Vividh Bharati

Vividh Bharati Service, one of the best-known services of All India Radio, was conceptualised to combat Radio Ceylon. The radio channel was launched on 3rd October, 1957. Vividh Bharati offers a wide range of programs, covering areas of news, film music, short plays, music and comedy. The programmes are produced centrally at Vividh Bharati Service, Borivali, Mumbai, and linked up to the satellite. Over the years, a handful of prominent people from Hindi cinema have lent their voice to the channel. Names like Lata Mangeshkar and actors Raj Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, are on the list of contributors.
