He has also worked in several other industry such as Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films besides one Marathi film. He is known for his redefining the folk musics by adding western sensibilities into it. He alone has composed 7000 songs, scored for 1000 films and has performed in 20000 concerts. The maestro has composed for famous films like Swathi Muthyam (1986), Nayagan (1987), Thevar Magan (1992), Anjali (1990 film) Guru (1997) and Hey Ram (2000), and for FIPRESCI award-winning Indian art film Nizhalkuthu ("The Shadow Kill") (2002) by Adoor Gopalakrishnan.
